An experienced, passionate and flexible commercials director, Mark Sheldon brings scripts to life by capturing natural performances from artists, and through having infinite patience for table top work. Combining his knowledge of traditional 'analogue' techniques with the benefits of the latest technologies he consistently creates cinematic commercials with high production values.
Trained initially as a Medical & Scientific photographer, Mark’s desire for creativity and travel over science and medicine took him to Hong Kong, where he lived and worked for 12 years. The invitation to DOP a TV commercial for Chase Manhattan Bank in 1987 was the defining point when Mark fell in love with TV Commercial production. He developed a passion for telling stories in very short films, which has remained in him ever since.
Campaigns for Lux (JWT Sri Lanka), Piz Buin (Lintas Worldwide), Toyota and Ford (Saudi Arabia), and AIDS Awareness with Jackie Chan (GIS Hong Kong) are a few of his career highlights. Many of the campaigns he has worked on have won awards at events from the Clios, the 4A’s in Asia through to the IVCA in London. In 1999 Mark was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society for his film work.
Now based in the UK, when he is not directing commercials Mark works on his own art projects, has two books in production for publication in 2017 and is a visiting lecturer in practical film making for the BA Film course at the Arts University Bournemouth.
